Meet Elizabeth

My career started out as a Learning and Development professional. From my first role in aged care in 1998, I developed a passion and commitment to improving the lives of older people. From 2002-2014, I worked in aged care regulation and quality improvement to improve quality of care and quality of life for older people. I now want to spend the rest of my working life focused on improving quality of life for older people.

Elizabeth’s focus is on equipping individuals and organisations to offer quality of life to older people so they can live a meaningful, purpose and enriching life.

Elizabeth worked for the Aged Care Quality Agency from 2002-2014. She developed the training program for new Quality Assessors. The course was based on problem-based learning scenarios equipping participants to conduct performance assessments of aged care services on behalf of the Australian Government. The training addressed new Aged Care Standards, revised audit methodology and matters arising to date from the Aged Care Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

In 2015-2016, Elizabeth was the Project Manager and researcher for the National Guidelines for Spiritual Care in Aged Care. These were the first guidelines in the world specifically for older people.

In 2015, she was part of the International Accreditation Programme Surveyor Training Standards. She reviewed and revisioned these standards and was used to set internationally recognised benchmarks that are now used by health accreditation bodies across the world in developing training programs for assessors/ surveyors.

The International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (IEEA) was established to accredit health accreditation bodies and health standards around the world. Elizabeth has been a surveyor since 2009 and has participated in accreditation surveys of health care accreditation bodies across the world.
